The Day Hospice is often a vibrant and lively place to be: sometimes because of the entertainment provided – anything from The Royal Northern College of Music, to Wigan Ukulele Band.  But chaos broke out when 21 year old singer Scott Chapman began his sound check.’

On that day all the patients were ladies and within the first two bars of a Michael Buble song, conversations and everything else stopped.  Mouths and eyes opened wide and spontaneous applause and cheers broke out.  Scott somewhat taken-aback said, “Hang on – this is only a sound check!”21 year old Scott is a rising talent with some of his own compositions selling worldwide on iTunes. He is a former winner of Wigan’s Got Talent, has performed with stars; sung at Aintree Grand National  and also at the Wigan Christmas Light switch on since he was 16.  Wigan Athletic, Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers are three of the Premier Football Clubs at which he has performed.  He has also sung at The Princes Trust Diamond Ball on several occasions and performed alongside Diversity – to mention a few.

By the time Scott had done his very brief  sound check, the Day Hospice was filled, not only by the patients; but the Day Hospice volunteers, drivers, staff, and others. Patients said ” What an incredible young man! His voice is amazing and he is a nice genuine person. We all got into the swing of  his show.  Some of us were even dancing to his mellifluous, melodious voice.  He is wonderful and deserves to make it right to the top of his profession.”

At one point Scott began singing ‘Volare’ in italian and one of the patients joined in! Scott added, ” I am delighted to be able to support the Hospice.  When mum and I had a tour of the Hospice a short while ago; along with an explanation of the service they provide; I can only say that I was blown- away! What an incredible organisation and I am only too happy to support the amazing work they do”             PREPARED BY EDWIN –  WIGAN & LEIGH HOSPICE
